Robert Iden “Bob” Reeder, 95 years old of Ferndale, Michigan, passed away on February 1, 2018, at Providence Hospital due to complications stemming from a fall.
Bob attended Ferris State College, served as a Marine in the Pacific during World War II (1944 to 1946), and was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved meeting new friends and adopting them into his already large family. Bob served an apprenticeship with Ford Motor Company before hiring in at Ethyl Corporation as a maintenance electrician and remained with them for 35+ years.
Bob married his loving wife Bethel Jane (Beth) in 1944. Together, they raised nine children; Beth, Robert Richard (Bob), Barbara, Beverly, Bruce, Brad, Barry, Brynn, and Becky. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, his wife Bethel (Beth), and son Brad.
He is survived by his eight children, 12 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren and adoptive family members.
He left this world with a head full of hair, many of his own teeth and a legacy of love that he passed on to his family. He will be mourned and missed by many. Ever the thoughtful, kind-hearted soul, Bob bequeathed his body to science to help others. At his request, there will be no funeral service. The extended family will hold a Celebration of Life picnic on June 9th, 2018 at Independence Oaks in Clarkston. Donations can be made to Salvation Army or the Alzheimer’s Association.
