Daniel “Danny” Sherwood Gibbs, 67, of Gerrardstown, WV passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Winchester Medical Center.
Born February 23, 1954, in Detroit, MI he was the son of the late Harmon Ray Gibbs and Lois Frances Gibbs.
Danny is survived by six sons, Danell (Jennifer) Gibbs, Marty (Paula) Gibbs, Thomas (Sarah) Gibbs, Aaron (Amber) Gibbs, Joshua Gibbs, and Jordan (Alanna) Gibbs; five daughters, Tracy Gibbs, Amanda Gibbs, Tara (Daniel) McGrew, Candice Dubbs, and Chelsea-Rae Gibbs; fifteen grandchildren; one brother, Larry Gibbs; and two sisters, Marylen Armstrong, and Debbie Meyka; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harmon Ray Gibbs, Jr. and his sister, Lois Ann Paduchowski.
Danny retired from Hamtramck Public School after 20 years of service. He was known by his colleagues to be kind, helpful, and always had a smile on his face. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends, taking long drives, shooting guns, poker nights, and trips to the casino. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Danny was charismatic, thoughtful, tenderhearted, and made sure to tell his family that he loved them as often as possible. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed by many.
According to his request cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held 12:00PM on Saturdsay, February 19, 2022 at Jansen Family Fuenral Home, where friends and family can visit 11:00 AM till time of service. Mr. Daniel McGrew officiating.
