Dale Wilber Loomis, age 75, a lifetime resident of Metamora died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Pines of Lapeer with his family beside him.
Dale was born August 14, 1944 in Metamora, Michigan to the late Gary and Margaret [Wilber] Loomis. Upon his retirement from General Motors Dale engineered the life he wanted on the farm where he was born and raised. He loved to collect and refurbish Allis Chalmers tractors, in addition to crafting his beloved Doodle Bugs. The Doodle Bugs started as a vision in his mind and then transferred onto a drawing often a napkin or scarp paper. He would then build exactly what his mind had envisioned. Folks would travel over 50 miles to get Dale's farm fresh eggs, they were AMAZING! Far beyond all of that however, Dale built a homestead that has become an escape from the illusions of modern life. A place his family will always call home, a source of peace, comfort and inspiration. That is Dale's legacy!
Dale is survived by his longtime companion Kathy Wildey, children: Lisa French, Phil (Thrisha) Loomis, Jason (Kelly Jo) Loomis, sister: Maxine Loomis, grandchildren: Jacob, Kamryn, Finley, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Orville, Edward, Jean, Janis, and Doris.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Dale’s life will be will held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Dale may be made to the family.
