Nina Poland Walker, age 73, of Lapeer left us peacefully, this weekend, at her home on August 22, 2020.
She lived her life with a quiet strength. She was a sweet and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
During her time in the workforce, she worked at Lapeer General Hospital, as a nurses aide. Then later at Suncrest Medical Care Facility, as a LPN. She was forced from nursing for health reasons. She expressed regrets, that she was no longer a nurse, she found satisfaction in caring for others. Although, unable to practice nursing, her care giving continued with her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind her son, John G. Sweet, grandson, Kane Sweet, daughter, Mary Robinson (husband Tony), grandchildren, Channing Holmes (husband Buddy), Hadlee, Sayer and Emerey Robinson, her great-grand daughter, Charlotte Holmes, her brother Jim Poland (wife Doris), sisters, Suzanne Joseph and Joyce Coe. She was preceded by her parents Mary Hodermasky Poland and Geordie Poland. She is now with God, in His loving arms, free from pain and worry, yet we mourn with tears, our loss and with thankfulness for our time together and her influence on our lives.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Nina's Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Nina may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
