Douglas Wayne Thompson, age 65, of Columbiaville died peacefully January 10, 2022 at McLaren Hospital in Lapeer under the loving care of his son and wonderful hospital staff, Dr Arja / Sharon McRorie.
Douglas was born January 14, 1956 in Flint, Michigan to Harvey and Ellen.He married Susan Anderson on December 19, 1976. Douglas retired from General Motors after 32 years of work, and was a Reserve Deputy for the Lapeer County Sheriff Department for 7 years, then achieved his dream and was hired full time to the Department for another 10 years before retiring. He was an avid Detroit Sports fan and outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting & hiking, but most of all he loved spending time with his family & friends, especially his son and grandson.
Douglas is survived by his wife Susan, son Christopher Thompson, grandson Liam Thompson, mother Ellen Spohn, siblings: Angie (George) Delor, Kevin (Debra) Thompson, Dana (Donna) Thompson, Eric (Theresa) Thompson, Jennifer (Mike) Hengy, Fred (Susan) Thompson, Vincent Thompson, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, siblings: Michael, Barb, Harvey Jr., and Colleen.
Cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Douglas’s life has been held. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville.
