Harry Caine

Obituary of Harry Richard Caine

Harry Richard Caine, age 86, of Lapeer went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 30, 2022.

Harry was born March 14, 1935 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa to the late Arthur and Johanna Caine.  He married Veronica Joy Edwina Nosworthy on August 12, 1967 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  Harry was a devoted husband to Veronica of 54 years, a father who loved his children dearly, an incredible grandfather to 6 grandchildren, and a man who was always up for an adventure and a darn good time. A fisherman, pigeon racer, comedian, best-man, prankster, sports fanatic, reader, foodie, remarkable gardener with a green thumb, board games, bible verse whizz, champion, horse race fan, magician, chef, loved to play pool, and dog lover. Harry had a warm heart and always appreciated a good whiskey and a cold beer. Christ shone brightly through him, a silent preacher with a few impactful words and loud actions. He was a friend to everyone from the instant he met them and believed: “A stranger is a friend you haven’t met yet!” He had an infectious laugh, a warm and welcoming smile, a confident strut in his step, and a whistle that brought joy and life wherever he was.

Harry is survived by his wife Veronica, children: Cheryl (Rod) Sanderson-Smith, Robert (Elaina) Caine, siblings: Iris Bezuidenhout, Audrey (Billy) Fourie, and 6 grandchildren Tamryn, Caylin, Rylee, Emlyn, Adelyn, Tobias .  He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Chris Caine, William & Pat Caine, Edna & Piet Van Deventer, Arther Caine, Charlse Bezuidenhout.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held at Calvary Bible Church at 4m on the 4th February 2022.  Memorial contributions in memory of Harry may be made to a local community outreach mission that makes people smile like Harry.
