Antonio Cheng, 74 yrs old known to many as Tony was a resident of Lapeer when he peacefully passed away surrounded by his family in person and virtually on August 14, 2022 at 9:30 pm.
He lived a contented life the last 3 years in the wonderful senior community of Riverview Towers since he moved to Michigan from California. He enjoyed the friendship and association of the residents of Riverview Towers in his daily walks to downtown Lapeer, as well as time (grocery shopping, attending gatherings, running errands, fishing) spent with daughter, Jamie who lives 15 minutes away. He met weekly with his family in Michigan, California, Philippines and Japan virtually on Google Meet, this year studing the Old Testament. He always enjoyed gardening, and took pride in the produce bearing plants and trees he has planted over the years in the Philippines, California and Michigan. Golf is the one sport that has truly taken his interest. Hitting a bucket of balls in the Wilson Golf club driving range in California was a favorite past time when he lived there. Even in his weakened state in the hospital he asked about his golf clubs he left behind in California. Cooking for his loved ones has always been part of his life and a great blessing to his family. He has helped a lot of people over the years without aplomb and strings attached because it is just part of who he is.
He is survived by his wife Ester, children Jamie (Jason) Meyers, Richie Brian (Sherilyn) Cheng, Joyce Aileen (Derek) Meyers, grandchildren Riley Bryce, Raniel Niko, Brooke Lian. His siblings Reynaldo(Delia), Ernesto(Aimee), Alfred(Elenita), Bernard(Rich). He was preceded in death by his parents Dionisio and Engracia, siblings Dionisio II and Erlinda.
