John was always quick with a smile and created many lasting memories with anyone he encountered. He enjoyed deer camp with his sons, other family members and friends. For many years he and Pat loved traveling in their motor home to Florida and Northern Michigan. Above all else, he loved spending time with Pat and their family. Being together with everyone that he cared about was the most important thing to him. John loved socializing and helping others. For many years he volunteered at the Bridgeport Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight, building manager, calling bingo and golfing on the Knights of Columbus league. A highlight for John and his son Mike was winning the league championship one year. He also enjoyed raising a glass and playing pool with friends and family. He always had a way of making people happy, and filling people's hearts with joy. John was an active member of the Catholic Church and helped with the start-up of the first Catholic Federal Credit Union Branch (now Jolt) in Buena Vista. He was quick to help a stranger in need. John will be deeply missed, for his service and influence on so many people. John W. Hodgson Sr. will live on in all our hearts, and we can all celebrate the fact that Heaven has gained such an incredible man. May he rest in peace knowing he was able to celebrate another New Year with his Patty.
