Obituary of Alfred Peter Derey

Alfred Peter Derey Jr., age 80, of Lapeer entered eternal life February 2, 2023 at home with his family beside him. 

Alfred was born December 16, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Alfred Sr. and Marie [Capella] Derey.  He married Maura Rivais on November 16, 1963 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.Alfred was a Teamsters officer at the Detroit Newspaper, where he retired in 2000.  He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer.  Alfred enjoyed working outdoors, his trips to the casino, but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.

Alfred is survived by his wife Maura, children: Timothy (Denise) Derey, Denise (Doug) Detomasso, Beth Merritt, Christopher (Krista) Derey, sister: Margaret Derey, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Beverly, Edward, and June. 

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Alfred’s Life will take place this coming summer.  Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville.   Memorial contributions in memory of Alfred can be made the family.   Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
