Donald Ray Walker, age 88, of Lapeer died November 23, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Lapeer with family beside him.
Donald was born April 24, 1930 in Almont, Michigan to the late Clarence and Edith [Graham] Walker. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and married Shirley Traub on August 7, 1951. Donald was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and Lifetime Member of American Legion Post #16 in Lapeer. He retired from General Motors in 1991, and was a master gardener, enjoyed fishing, tending to his pond, and was very well know for best hug in town. Before his wife’s passing in 2008, he loved dancing with her any chance they got.
Donald is survived by his children: Kim (Carol) Walker, Gwyn (Gary) Stoneburg, daughter in-law Marsha Walker, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, siblings: Eva, Gladys, Harvey, sons: Robert, and Kent.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date come spring. Memorial contributions in memory of Donald may be made the American Legion Post #16 in Lapeer.
