Emilie Ruth Ostrander, 86, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2018 at Marlette United Hospice in Marlette.
Emilie was born in Tawas, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Herman) Adelsburg. She was married to the late Walter Ostrander Sr who preceded her in death. Together they raised four children in their family home in Millington. Emilie loved to paint, knit, bicycling, and great pride in maintaining her yard. She dedicated many years of service to the American Legion Auxiliary and was a faithful member of the Millington Baptist Church. She retired from Millington Screw Products after 30 years of service.
Emilie is survived by three daughters: Susanne (Frederic) Seyfarth of North Carolina, Judith (Daniel) Kowitz of Millington, Debra (Paul) Barbe of Quebec, Canada and one son: Walter Jr (Deb) Ostrander of Millington; ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Rose Setula of Rhodes, Martha (Lester) McGuthrie of Illinois, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by four brothers: Carl, Ted, Frank, and Albert Adelsburg; and one sister: Emma Nichols. In keeping with Emilie’s wishes, cremation will be handled by Jansen Family Funeral Home in Columbiaville and a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date for the immediate family. The family wishes to thank Sitting Angels (Lapeer) and Marlette United Hospice (Marlette) for their tender, compassionate care.
